そこで、ここで古きよきイギリスの列車によるロンドンからの一日旅行をご案内します。
もちろんオックスフォード、ケンブリッジ、バース、カンタベリー、ソールスベリーなど有名な街は１年中通してお楽しみいただけます。
ここではこの２ヶ月のよい季節に最適なカントリーサイドをご紹介したいと思います。太陽はすぐなくなってしまいますからね。
コンスタブル カントリー サフォーク Constable country, Suffolk（Liverpool Street駅よりManningtree駅まで１時間）
Dedham Vale とFlatford Millの美しいカントリーサイドをお楽しみ下さい。こちらはコンスタブルによって１８２１年に描かれた‘The Hay Wain’のモデルになった場所です。
ライ サセックスRye, Sussex (London Bridge駅 もしくは Waterlooより to Rye駅まで１時間５０分)
もし皆さんが、「古風」で「絵のような」街がご希望ならライにはそれが豊富にあります。
マーメイド通りやYpres 塔やSt. Mary教会なども必見です。
ホイットスタブル ケント Whitstable, Kent (Victoria駅からWhitstable駅まで１時間２５分)
私はここの小石の海岸と、かわいらしい海辺の小屋と有名なカキが大好きです。ここにはたくさんの
小さくて質のよい小物やお土産店があります。

オペラがお好きで、夏の宵を野外で過ごすのが好きな方は、ホーランドパークで行われるオペラが必見です。
数年前に私が見たときは天候は最高で、セットもすばらしく公演は見事なものでした。そして数分後にそのオペラに古い友人が出演しているのを発見して驚いたものでした。
演目は一般向けですので、ベートーベンの「フィデリオ」、ヴェルディの「ラ・フォルツァ・デル・デスティノ」、ザンドナイの「フランチェスカ・ダ・リミニ」そして子供向けにピッカーで「ファンタスティック ミスターフォックス」が上演されます。
劇場には２つのバーもあり、ピクニック場もありますので前もってピクニックを予約することも可能です。

ゴーギャン、ルノアール、マティスなどの絵画や、版画、彫刻なども見られます。美しいサマーセットハウスの建物とコートヤードというセッティングもハイクオリティーのコレクション共々見る価値があります。
サミュエル・コートールドはこの世界でも有数の小美術館の設立者の一人です。初期印象派から２０世紀の最も著名な印象派と後期印象派の作品を集めています。

先日私はこの展覧会に行き、多くの生徒さんもきっと興味を持つに違いないと思いました。個人的に私は何らかのメッセージを伝えてきたキルトの歴史などに興味がありました。
この展覧会はV&Aの初めての英国製キルトの展覧会です。６５品のキルト作品が展示され、現代の作家による作品（Grayson Perry and Tracey Emin）などもあります。その多くはこの展示会の為に作られたものです。ワンズワース刑務所の囚人による作品なども興味深いものでした。
ここでは帝国主義を彷彿させる王室のベッドカバーや子供たちのゆりかごのキルトまで、幅広い種類のキルトが見られます。そこには愛や婚姻、誕生、死、愛国心そして様式が刻まれています。そのテーマは田園生活、個人的な思い、公共の議論や英国流奇抜さなど様々です。

私と同じく植物や花を愛する皆さんにはチェルシーでの１日は必須です！
今年は５月１９日から２３日に行われる、チェルシーフラワーショーは園芸関係のファッションウィークに相当する、ガーデンデザイナーや栽培業者が才能と作品を誇示する世界的に有名なイベントです。
今年のテーマは「アートギャラリーとしてのガーデン」で、彫刻やその他の美術品やアートとの関連性が見いだせるガーデンということです。
フラワーショーは１８６２年ロイヤル・ホーティカルチャー・ソサエティー・グレート・スプリングショーがケンジントンで開かれたのにさかのぼります。年を経て場所は変わりここ数年はチェルシー・ロイヤル・ホスピタルの庭に落ち着いていますが、年々訪れる人の数が増え続けるので、今ではチケット数が限られています。ですから、興味のある方は今すぐご予約を！
